The Institute of Bangladesh Studies is an advanced centre for inter-disciplinary
study and research on various aspects of Bangladeshlife, society, and economy. It
is the only national centre of its kind—established through an Act of the
Bangladesh Parliament No. XXVI of 1973—entrusted with a role not only of
providing facilities for pursuing advance research degrees like MPhil and PhD but
also developing an integrated approach to Bangladesh Studies. The IBS intends to
be a centre of research excellence.
