
The Department of Information and Communication Engineering (ICE), University of Rajshahi, organized a vibrant “Freshers’ Reception, Graduates’ Farewell & Prize Giving Ceremony 2025” at the department premises, creating a memorable bridge between incoming and outgoing batches. The program was hosted by the ICE Association and brought together teachers, students, and distinguished guests in a warm, festive atmosphere.
The formal session was graced by the presence of Professor Dr. Saleh Hasan Naqib, Honorable Vice-Chancellor, University of Rajshahi, as the Chief Guest. The Special Guests included Professor Dr. Mohammad Main Uddin, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration); Professor Dr. Md Farid Uddin Khan, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic); and Professor Dr. Bimal Kumar Pramanik, Dean, Faculty of Engineering. The program was chaired by Professor Dr. Halida Homayra, Chairman, Department of ICE, while Professor Dr. Mirza A.F.M. Rashidul Hasan served as the Convenor and presided over the ceremony.
The event formally welcomed the ICE-23, ICE-24, and ICE-25 batches as new members of the ICE family and offered a heartfelt farewell to the ICE-19 and ICE-20 batches, who are stepping into their professional lives. Freshers shared their excitement and aspirations in short speeches, while graduating students reflected emotionally on their journey, memories, and the guidance received from teachers throughout their time in the department.
As part of the farewell segment, crests were presented to graduating students of the outgoing batches in recognition of their successful completion of studies and contributions to departmental activities. The dignitaries delivered inspiring speeches, emphasizing academic excellence, ethical values, and the responsibility of ICE graduates to contribute to national and global development through science and technology.
The program also included a Prize Giving Ceremony for various indoor games and a programming contest, where winners and runners-up from different batches were awarded. Competitions such as Need for Speed, TuxMath, EA Football, EA Cricket, Ludo, Chess, Carrom, Card 29, Dart Throwing, and a Programming Contest (including a “Rising Star” category) added a competitive yet friendly spirit to the occasion and showcased students’ diverse talents beyond the classroom.
The first (formal) session concluded with closing remarks from the Convenor, followed by heartfelt thanks to all teachers, guests, organizers, and participants. The celebration then transitioned into a cultural program, featuring performances by ICE students, which further strengthened camaraderie among juniors, seniors, and faculty members and made the day truly memorable for everyone present.
