The ICT Center started its journey in July 1985 as Computer Center in the First Science Building (Satyendra Nath Bose Academic Building) with terminal-based Alpha Micro1000E to accelerate research facilities in the university. In the course of time, the Center has gradually developed and extended its activities and ICT facilities to all the university members.
The first Optical Fiber Network System was installed in 1999. The project was funded by the Ministry of Science and Technology, Bangladesh. After the completion of the project, the internet facility was provided in 2001. Then the length of the network was around 10 km. At present, the total length of the optical fiber is over 30 km.
The ICT Center has provided internet service to all the members of the university. We use two separate bandwidth – one is from BTCL of 1866 Mbps and the other one is from BdREN of 1000 Mbps.
