Message

Welcome to the Office of The International Affairs, University of Rajshahi. University of Rajshahi (also known as Rajshahi University or RU) is the second largest university in Bangladesh and a leading public university in South Asia for higher education and research. RU was founded in 1953 as a second oldest public university in East Bengal after the foundation of University of Dhaka in 1921. Currently there are 17,582 undergraduate and 3,667 master’s students, and 986 MPhil/PhD students across 59 departments and six institutes (Ref: Annual Report 2022-23). Among the students, 39 students are from foreign countries. Most of the faculty members (82.15%) have PhD degrees and many of them earned their PhD from world-renowned institutions abroad. Professor Dr. Golam Shabbir Sattar, an eminent educationist and geologist, is the current Vice Chancellor of University of Rajshahi. For almost 70 years, RU is providing quality education and conducting a variety of basic and advanced research activities.

The OIA at RU was founded in 2020 as core division of university administration to develop and manage international initiatives and international partnerships for RU. The activities of OIA include fostering national and international engagement and collaboration, providing support to the international students and visiting scholars. Additionally, we also work with famous university ranking institutions including Times Higher Education (THE) University Ranking and QS World University Ranking to improve the global reputation and ranking of University of Rajshahi.

The OIA also deal with the procedures of signing memorandum of understanding (MoU) or other deeds between any entities of this university with local or foreign universities, research organisations, industries, companies etc. OIA also manages the entire academic progress of international students from the admission process to graduation in both undergraduate and graduate programs.

With the leadership of honourable Vice Chancellor of RU, the university is thriving to excellence in education and research. OIA is supporting the initiatives of RU to internationalisation and being a global institution.
