Bachelor of Social Sciences (BSS) (Honors) in Social Work
4 year program, total credits: 120
The department of social work has been conducting a full time four-year honors (graduate) program having 3000 marks in total equal to 120 credits with a view to prepare students to obtain the knowledge and skills necessary for beginning generalist social work practice through mastery of its following core competencies:

To be identified as a social worker and conduct self accordingly;

Applying social work ethical principles to guide professional practice;

Applying critical thinking to inform and communicate professional judgments;

Master of Social Sciences (MSS) in Social Work
1 year program, total credits: 36
The department offers MSS program of one academic year having 600 marks in total equal to 36 credits. The key purpose of this program is to provide students with an intellectually exciting, challenging and contemporary curriculum in social work, social development and social research. The program offers opportunity to learn advanced social work and share practical experiences. It also provides the skills, academic knowledge and conceptual framework for those who intend to carry out/pursue higher education (e.g. for an M.Phil or Ph.D) in the field of social work. Throughout this whole syllabus an attempt is made to introduce the students with the theories, philosophy and various paradigms of social development and social work. It is expected that by the end of this program the students will be able to demonstrate a grasp of the theory and methodology, technique as well as their strengths and limitations in all of these areas. The program also pays heed to the attainment of skills of managing research projects.
