1. To produce knowledgeable and skilled English language teachers for Bangladesh and international markets by offering one year and two year MA in ELT and Diploma programmes in ELT.
2. To produce graduates with strong command of English language skills and sound linguistic knowledge for professional excellence by offering an MA in English language degree.
3. To promote knowledge and skills in other major foreign languages among graduates for effective functioning in multilingual and multicultural academic and professional settings by offering certificates in those major foreign languages.
4. To contribute to manpower export by developing communicative competence and professional skills in major foreign languages.
5. To enhance foreign language proficiency of officers and employees (especially police officers) working in UN missions overseas.
6. To facilitate advanced research and scholarly activities in language education by offering MPhil and PhD degrees.
