The Institute of English and Other Languages (IEOL) of the University of Rajshahi is an academic unit established to provide specialized instruction, training, and research in English and seven other foreign languages. The Institute functions in accordance with the academic objectives of the University and the guidelines of the University Grants Commission (UGC), with a view to strengthening language competence, academic communication, and professional skills among students and scholars.

The Institute offers a range of certificate, diploma, and advanced training programs designed to meet the academic, research, and professional language needs of learners. Emphasis is placed on the development of proficiency in reading, writing, listening, and speaking, as well as on academic writing, research communication, and language use in professional and international contexts. The curriculum and assessment procedures are regularly reviewed to ensure relevance, quality, and compliance with national higher education standards.

In addition to teaching, the Institute is engaged in research, teacher development, and academic support services. It provides language assistance for postgraduate studies, thesis and dissertation preparation, and scholarly publication. The Institute also organizes seminars, workshops, and training programs aimed at enhancing language pedagogy and promoting academic excellence.
