About the Institute of English and Other Languages
The Institute of English and Other Languages at Rajshahi University began its journey on 10 October 2015. One of its primary academic objectives is to teach compulsory English courses in different departments of this University. The Institute also runs One Year and Two Year MA programmes in English Language Teaching (ELT). The Institute aims to produce knowledgeable and skilled English language teachers for the country. It also aims at providing practical training in teaching. The Institute further aims to produce English graduates with knowledge of different areas and aspects of the English Language so that they may meet the need of English in different government, semi-government, autonomous and private organizations. They are also expected to use their language efficiency in the teaching of English to improve the state of English teaching and learning in this country.
Along with its primary focus on English language teaching and learning, this Institute also offers certificate courses French, German, Russian, Spanish, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and Hindi. There is an additional Intensive Bangla Language course for foreigners.
Apart from these courses, the Institute focuses too on interdisciplinary researches traversing diverse domains of Language, Literature and Culture, offering opportunities for MPhil and PhD to aspirants.
