IEOL calls for papers for the upcoming conference titled “Edward Said: Life and Legacies”

Abstract Submission Deadline: 10 November 2026

The Institute of English and Other Languages (IEOL) invites scholars, researchers, educators, and postgraduate students to submit papers for its upcoming conference, “Edward Said: Life and Legacies.”

This conference seeks to explore the intellectual contributions and enduring influence of Edward Said, one of the most influential literary critics and cultural theorists of the modern era. By engaging with Said’s life and works, and his core concepts and arguments, we aim to explore the essence of Said’s intellectual and political contribution, and his lasting relevance for the practitioners of diverse academic fields including English Studies, who take interest in politics of representation, narratives of power, Orientalism, Islamophobia, humanism, and of course, the question of Palestine. The upcoming conference also seeks to find out possible future directions in Saidian Studies. We encourage contributions that critically revisit Said’s ideas, examine their contemporary relevance, and consider their implications for literature, language, culture, politics, and society.

Join us in continuing the conversation on Edward Said’s enduring intellectual legacy.

Further details regarding the conference, its submission/participation guidelines, and important dates are attached in the following document: Call for Papers – Edward Said — Life and Legacies
