Ms. Ridita Mizan, Assistant Professor at the Department of English, University of Rajshahi, and PhD fellow at Illinois State University, presented a special talk on “Reflections on Empathy in English Studies” at the Institute of English and Other Languages on Sunday, December 21, 2025. Faculties and senior students from the English departments of University of Rajshahi, Varendra University, and North Bengal International University were invited to participate in the event. The talk emphasized and elaborated on the concept of empathy as an ideology and insisted upon its literary significance in the field of English Studies. Afterwards, Dr. Natasha Afrin and Dr. Sharmin Akhter, Associate Professors at the Institute, provided a commentary, and Professor Maswood Akhter, the Director of the Institute, delivered a vote of thanks to conclude the event.
