Welcome to the Department of Agronomy and Agricultural Extension, University of Rajshahi, Bangladesh. It is a matter of great pride and pleasure to welcome you to one of the pioneering departments under the Faculty of Agriculture at the University of Rajshahi, established in 2000. The department offers a B.Sc. Ag. (Honours) degree at the undergraduate level and Master of Science (M.S.) degrees at the graduate level in the disciplines of Agronomy, Agricultural Extension Education, Genetics and Plant Breeding, Plant Pathology, and Crop Botany. Since its inception, the department has remained committed to excellence in teaching, research, innovation, and extension services. Our academic and research activities are designed to address contemporary challenges in agriculture, food security, environmental sustainability, and rural development. We strive to equip our students with strong theoretical knowledge, practical skills, and a research-oriented mindset so that they can contribute effectively to national and global agricultural advancement. The disciplines of Agronomy and Agricultural Extension are central to sustainable agricultural development. While Agronomy focuses on crop production, soil–plant relationships, and resource management, Agricultural Extension emphasizes the dissemination of scientific knowledge, farmer education, and the adoption of improved agricultural technologies. Together, these fields play a vital role in ensuring resilient and productive agricultural systems.

Our department is fortunate to have a dedicated team of qualified faculty members, enthusiastic students, and supportive staff who work collaboratively to maintain a vibrant academic environment.
