The Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, University of Rajshahi was established in 1976 as “The Department of Biochemistry” with M.Sc. curriculum under the Faculty of Science and it gained its full shape in 1981. To modernize the department, it was later renamed as the “Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology” in 2001. Now, the department is conducting a four-years B.Sc. (Honours) and a one year M. Sc. courses. Graduates from Biochemistry have opportunity to conduct higher studies with two years M. Phil. and three years Ph.D. programme in different fields including molecular biology, protein and enzyme chemistry, pharmaceutical chemistry
