Professional Experiences:

In Geological Survey of Bangladesh:

Hold the positions of Assistant Director (Assistant Geologist) from 6 February 1986 to 19 October 1990 and Deputy Director (Senior Geologist) from 20 October 1990 to 2 January 1997. Was an working person of the Project and Implementation, Economic Geology and Biostratigraphy branches in the Geological Survey of Bangladesh.

Worked as Site and Consultant Geologist in the Madhyapara Hard Rock Mining Project of Bangladesh and as research member of the Stratigraphic Evaluation Committee of the Bengal Basin.

Joined the “Sonne-93 Cruise” of German Geoscientists in the Bay of Bengal (1994)  for shallow seismic survey to identify surface topography, cyclonic effects on sedimentation, to identify economic mineral deposits like manganese, cobalt, nickel etc (blue economy). Engaged on board to study Holocene sediments and micro

Have about 11 years on-field experience as a Site and Exploration Geologist of the Geological Survey of Bangladesh in the exploratory drilling programs for Permian Gondwana coal in the Barapukuria and Khalaspir basins in the northwestern Bangladesh. During this period stratigraphic, sedimentological, lithofacies, coal facies logs etc. of 15 deep boreholes drilled in the two newly discovered coal fields were prepared and analyzed for their coal quality, sedimentary and coal petrography, diagenetic history, palynostratigraphy, mode of deposition and formation of coal swamps etc. Sedimentological analysis included both the megascopic description of core samples (compositional and sedimentary structural) and microscopic study of thin sections of sandstone, heavy mineral analysis for textural and mineralogical attributes modal composition, maturity index, diagenetic hostory, classification, provenance, lithofacies analysis and facies modeling for paleoenvironmental interpretation etc.
