International Fisheries Summit and Expo, 2025
(Theme: Stakeholders Networking Towards Sustainable Aquaculture and Export)
The fisheries sector is incredibly important to Bangladesh, serving as a major source of food, providing jobs for millions, and contributing significantly to the country’s economy through exports. In fact, Bangladesh is one of the top fish-producing nations in the world, holding a top 5 global position. In terms of freshwater fish production, it is an absolute powerhouse, sometimes even surpassing China.
Stakeholder networking is crucial for the sustainable growth of aquaculture and its export potential. By fostering collaboration among various stakeholders, we can promote the adoption of eco-friendly practices, enhance productivity, and ensure the long-term viability of the industry. This will not only benefit those involved but also contribute to the overall economic development of the nation.
The key stakeholders in the aquaculture sector are:
• Fish farmers and producers
• Research institutions and academia
• Government agencies and policymakers
• Industry associations
• Suppliers and processors
• Certification bodies
By actively engaging in stakeholder networking, the aquaculture sector can address key challenges—from environmental concerns to market access—and ultimately build a more resilient and sustainable industry. This summit and expo will serve as a hub for knowledge exchange, technological advancement, and business development within the fisheries industry.
