Message from Chairman<\/h2>\n

The Department of Statistics of the University of Rajshahi was established in 1961 by Professor Khondoker Monowar Hossain, a distinguished statistician who was the first Head of the Department. From the very beginning the department has earned reputation in producing statisticians who became famous nationally and internationally. The department offers B.Sc. Honours, M.Sc., M. Phil and Ph. D, degrees in Statistics. Also a Statistical Computing Course.<\/span><\/p>\n

The research areas include- Demography, Population & Health, Social Statistics and Ageing, Multivariate Analysis, Econometrics and Time Series Modeling, Reliability, Bio-Statistics, Educational Statistics and Inference, Bayesian Inference, Stochastic Modeling, Probability, Survey Sampling, Applied Statistics, Anthropometric Study, Environmental Studies, Statistical Data Mining, Bootstrap in Time Series, Simulation Modeling, Regression Diagnostics, Multinomial Distribution, Order Statistics, Computer Programming, Robust Statistics, Non-linear Programming, Mathematical Statistics, Statistical learning, Human Growth, Linear Programming and Quality Control, Human Morphology, Reliability, Bio-Statistics, Computer Programming, Statistical Genetics and Bioinformatics, Statistical Signal Processing, Statistical Modeling of Climatic variables, Macroeconomics, Financial Statistics, Optimization, Robust Statistics, Biomedical Statistics.<\/span><\/p>\n

An increasing number of students are doing thesis in M.Sc., M.Phil. and Ph.D. levels. We have an international journal named: The International Journal of Statistical Sciences (IJSS), ISSN:1683-5603. IJSS welcomes papers both theoretical and applied from all branches of Statistics. It also welcomes papers from other disciplines having significant statistical theory and\/or applications.<\/span><\/p>\n

The department has a modern computer laboratory and a conference room.<\/span><\/p>\n
