I am delighted to greet the new entrants to the Pharmacy Department of Rajshahi University. We, at RU, will do everything to make sure you get the support you need to succeed. From the moment you step on RU campus, your success is our goal and we will work with you to make it happen.<\/p>\n

The Department of Pharmacy at the University of Rajshahi (RU) is the third longest established Department in Bangladesh. The year 2015 marks an important milestone for us as our University and the Department celebrate 25th year anniversary. We are one of the nine Departments among the Faculty of Science in RU. Recently, the Department was shifted to 4th Science building with purpose built research and teaching facilities so, that the students can enjoy the very best laboratory and learning facilities that puts them at the forefront of Pharmacy education.<\/p>\n

Today Pharmacy profession is not confined to industry alone. It has expanded immensely and there are a lot of opportunities in Clinical Research, Nanotechnology, Drug Discovery, Molecular Biology, Phytochemistry and so on. Pharmacy discipline has grown tremendously and recent advances in technology have created plenty of job and research opportunities. Recent innovations have revolution the process of drug discovery and development. RU is student-centric and ready to face the global challenges of the Pharmacy profession. Our B. Pharm. and M. Pharm. curriculum is designed in that direction by intellectuals. I welcome you to the RU Group-we are dedicated to help you achieve your goals.<\/p>\n

All class rooms are equipped with projector, audio system and connected to internet. This provide ready references for lectures and training and hands-on sessions. This also helps students to use online resources right-on-the-desk.<\/p>\n

Pharmacy at RU, has the privilege of maintaining a herbal garden within the campus with more than 40 species of important medicinal and aromatic plants. The garden is attached with the Pharmacy Building and its main purpose is to carry out experimental work, serves an important tool for teaching and research, to preserve and promote the medicinal values of the plants which grow mostly wild, in our surrounding and whose properties are beneficial in maintaining a balance between man and nature.<\/p>\n

The Department also offers a range of postgraduate research opportunities including M. Phil and Doctor of Philosophy and the graduate studies are coordinated by the Department and Institute of Biological Sciences. Research students have access to state-of-the-art laboratory space located at Central Science laboratory within the same premises. Quality and innovative research is a major component of the Department and broadly grouped into four major research areas:<\/p>\n

1. Natural Product Chemistry
2. Pharmacology and Clinical Pharmacy
3. Pharmaceutical Technology & Bio-Pharmaceutics and
4. Molecular Biology & Biotechnology.<\/p>\n

The principal education philosophy in faculties of pharmacy is to provide a sound professional education and training corresponds with the contemporary state and standard of pharmaceutical sciences supported by laboratory practices and trainee-ship. During the pharmacy education, students are provided with basic and professional knowledge on drug sources, production of pharmaceutical raw materials, pharmaceutical formulation and technology, therapeutic and adverse effects of drugs and pharmaceutical care. Pharmacy graduates may practice in community or hospital pharmacies, armed forces or government services or in academic or research institutions.<\/p>\n

Till today, the Department remains as a leading institutions that offer Pharmacy education with the responsibility of training pharmacists and pharmaceutical scientists for the nation and beyond.<\/p>\n
