These are:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Chemical Engineering and Environmental Chemistry<\/li>\n<li>Metallurgy, Corrosion and Materials Science<\/li>\n<li>Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Pharmaceutics<\/li>\n<li>Chemical Technology, Polymer Science, Textiles Materials,\u00a0 Fuel &amp; Petrochemicals<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h6><b>Curriculum, Exam &amp; Results<\/b><\/h6>\n<p>The B.Sc. (Eng.) courses in Applied Chemistry and Chemical Engineering consists of 31 theoretical courses (including six related courses) spread over a period of four academic years. There are 17 days practical examinations, 200 marks viva voce examinations and 125 marks in-plant trainings distributed in four academic years. The Master of Science course is held in two groups: The general group (Group A) and the Thesis group (Group B). The Group A examination consists of 6 theoretical courses, 8 days practical examinations, viva voce and in-plant training. Students of the Group B are more advanced and allowed to undertake research works in lieu of practical courses.<\/p>\n<h6><b>Seminar Library<\/b><\/h6>\n<p>The Department has a library of its own. It has about 40 seat capacities. Books and journals of various disciplines are available here.<\/p>\n<h6><b>Laboratory Facilities<\/b><\/h6>\n<p>The department has 6 practical class laboratories namely Organic, Industrial, Physical, Chemical Engineering, Pharmaceutical and Polymer and almost a dozen of research laboratories.<\/p>\n<h6><b>In-plant Training Facility<\/b><\/h6>\n<p>10-20 days in-plant training in different chemical process industries of the country is compulsory for both B.Sc. Eng. and Masters students.<\/p>\n<h6><b>Research Activities<\/b><\/h6>\n<p><b>\u00a0 \u00a0Researches on various fields are going on in the department.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>1.\u00a0 In the Chemical Engineering branch, r<span style=\"color: var( --e-global-color-text );font-family: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-family ), Sans-serif;font-weight: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-weight )\">eaction engineering, catalysis, solvent extraction, non-conventional energy sources, environmental pollution control and technology etc.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>2. In the metallurgical branch, corrosion inhibition, electroplating, production of new materials, pyro- and hydrometallurgical researches are major research areas.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>3. In the pharmaceutical branch, isolation, characterization, computational design and syntheses of new organic compounds of pharmaceutical importance are going on besides researches on natural products, lipid and protein technology and\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>4.
