ACADEMIC PROFILES
(i) Graduated in 1975 from the University of Rajshahi in Zoology with honours (having chemistry and botany as subsidiary subjects)
(ii) Completed post graduation (M.Sc.) from the same University in 1976 in Zoology with specialization in Animal Ecology.
(iii) Obtained Ph.D. in Animal Cytogenetics (Environment Mutagenesis) from the University of Panjab, India, in 1989.
Research, Teaching and Organizing Experience:
(i) Conducted R & D and extension works in the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry from 1997 to 81 in the Bangladesh Agricultural Research Council BARC Project (on Soybean and Mango). Also carried out research works in the projects sponsored by the Rajshahi University and the Science and Technology DIV., ICT Minstry, GoB
(ii) Have been teaching Zoology in Rajshahi University and playing a key role both in planning and executing the curricula for Zoology teaching in the Rajshahi University since 1981. Have been leading the Ecology team at the Zoology Department.
(iii) Produced five Ph.D.s, 2 in Animal Cytogenetics and 1 in Environmental Biology and 2 in Freshwater Fishery. Also supervised a number of postgraduate students (both at M.Sc and M.Phil. levels) in Ecology, Cytology and Cytogenetics. Presently supervising 2 Ph.D. students in Freshwater biology and a number of M.Sc. students in Animal Biodiversity.
(iv) Published more than 50 scientific papers in Nationally and Internationally reputed Journals on ecology, environmental sciences and freshwater fishery.
(v) Elected Fellow of the Zoological Society of Bangladesh; elected Fellow of the Royal Entomological Society of London (1996-1997).
(vi) Visited the U.K. as a vistiting Fellow under the Rajshahi-Newcastle Link Project for a period of two (2) years to conduct postdoctoral research in environmental protection.
(vii) Organized a centre for environmental research in the University to carry out studies on biodiversity and land-water interface R & D project.
