| The M.Sc.
Examination in Physics is divided into two
groups: Group A (Nuclear Physics: General and
Thesis) and Group B (Solid State Physics: General
and Thesis). The M.Sc. curriculum in Physics
shall consist of: (i) 5 units of theory courses,
each carrying 100 marks, and (ii) Experiments
(practical examination carrying 200 marks) or a
thesis carrying 200 marks. There will be three
compulsory and two optional papers for each of
the students from group A and group B. Total
marks:
- 5 theory courses each
carrying 100 marks (5 units) 5x100 = 500
- Tutorial/Terminal tests
(0.5 unit) = 50
- General Viva (0.5 unit) =
50
- Experiments/ Thesis (2
units) = 200
Total =
800 marks
General viva-voce examinations will be held at
the end of the session when the theory
examinations are over. The thesis students have
to submit their dissertation for evaluation
within 90 days after the date of last theory
course examination.
Class attendance
(Both in theory and practical classes)
- Below 75% : Non-collegiate
- Below 60% : Dis-collegiate [Discollegiate
students will not be allowed to fill-up
the examination forms]
