- To develop Biological organisms, systems and processes for utilization in Food and Agriculture, Health and Medicine, Industry and Energy through scientific researches.
- To develop research activities in modern biological sciences in cooperation with other departments of the University.
- To apply science and technology for socio-economic development of the country and to undertake research projects in cooperation with public and private organizations.
- To promote and provide facilities for advanced studies and research on Biological sciences for M.Phil and Ph.D. degrees.
