A debate competition on "মাতৃভাষাই হওয়া উচিত ফিশারীজে উচ্চশিক্ষার অন্যতম ভাষা"was organized by Bangladesh Fisheries Information Share Home (BdFISH) at the department on April 8, 2010. The debate competition was supported by Department of Fisheries (R.U.) and Rajshahi University Fisheries Association (RUFA).

Dr. Md. Akhtar Hossain, Associate Professor and Chairman of the department presided over the competition as chairman and Dr. M. Manjurul Alam (Assistant Professor), Md. Istiaque Hossain (Assistant Professor) and Mr. Md. Tariqul Islam (Lecturer) were present as judge of the competition.

Tanmoyananda Avi, student of B.Sc. Fisheries (Hons.) Part-2 (old) became the champion of the competition followed by S.M. Abu Naser, student of B.Sc. Fisheries (Hons.) Part-4 and Nipa Chaki, student of B.Sc. Fisheries (Hons.) Part-2.

Teachers, office staff and students of the departent were present and enjoyed the competition.

Dictionary of Fisheries, a book by Mr. Md. Abdus Samad, Assistant Professor of the department was launched on March 27, 2010. Dr. Md. Akhtar Hossain, Associate Professor and Chairman of the Department of Fisheries launched this book and the author and teachers also shared their expressions.

A wall magazine entitled "Shadhinata Aram Kache" was published on March 27, 2010 through a fascinating program on the very celebration of March 26, the Independence and National Day of Bangladesh.

The magazine is published by Rajshahi University Fisheries Association (RUFA) and formally opened by Dr. Md. Akhtar Hossain, Associate Professor and Chairman of the Department of Fisheries.

A rally, organized by Rajshahi University Fisheries Association (RUFA) on the celebration of March 26, the Independence and National day.

The annual picnic of the Department of Fisheries was held on March 19, 2010 at the Sona Mosjid of Chapai Nawabganj district. The picnic was organized by Rajshahi University Fisheries Association (RUFA). Teachers, office staff and students of the department participated the picnic and enjoyed well.

A briefing session on “Poverty Focused Development Activities for the Disadvantaged People” was held at the Fisheries Gallery of the department on March 11, 2010. The session was facilitated by Mr. Md. Sadequl Islam, Senior Program Officer of NETZ Bangladesh. The session was organized by the Department of Fisheries and supported by the Rajshahi University Fisheries Association (RUFA).

In this session, the honorable facilitator nicely described the working strategies and activities of NETZ Bangladesh for the development of ultra poor people. He mainly focused on “AMADER” project of NETZ Bangladesh and showed their contributions in developing the disadvantaged Adivasi (tribal) people under the areas of Monga, Barind and Northern part of Dhaka division.

আন্তর্জাতিক মাতৃভাষা উপলক্ষ্যে ২১ ফেব্রুয়ারী ২০১০ ফিশারীজ সমিতি, রাজশাহী বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় এর উদ্দ্যোগে এক বর্ণাঢ্য র‌্যালীর আয়োজন করা হয়। র‌্যালীটি তৃতীয় বিজ্ঞান ভবনের সামনে থেকে শুরু হয়ে রবীন্দ্র ভবন, কেন্দ্রীয় গ্রন্থাগার এবং প্যারিস রোড হয়ে বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় শহীদ মিনারে শেষ হয় এবং সেখানে পুষ্পস্তবক অর্পণ করা হয়। র‌্যালীতে ফিশারীজ বিভাগের শিক্ষক, কর্মকর্তা-কর্মচারী এবং ছাত্রছাত্রীরা অংশগ্রহণ করে।

The Rajshahi University Fisheries Association (RUFA) organized several programs at the Department of Fisheries, University of Rajshahi on January 31, 2010. The programs included welcome ceremony of B.Sc. Fisheries (Hons.) part 1 students and RUFA members; farewell of MS-3 students; launching the official website of the department and prize distribution of indoor games and cultural activities.

Dr. Md. Akhtar Hossain, Associate Professor and Chairman of the Department of Fisheries was the chairman of the programs. Prof. Dr. M. Abdur Rahman, Treasurer of the University of Rajshahi was present as the chief guest of program. Dr. Md. Jalal Uddin Sarder, Associate Professor and Chairman of the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Science, and Dr. A. M. Shahidul Alam, Associate Professor of Department of Agronomy and Agricultural Extension also participated as special guests

The official website of the department designed by BdFISH Team was formally launched by the honorable chief guest. The function was ended up with a fascinating cultural program performed by the students and teachers together.
