Session: 2009-2010
The B.Sc. Fisheries (Honours) courses shall consist of Fisheries as Honours and Zoology, Botany, Bio-chemistry, Statistics, Rural Sociology, Fisheries Economics and Geography as related subjects. The degree covers a total of 192 credits (4800 marks) of which the Honours courses are of 128 credits (3200 marks) and the related courses are of 64 credits (1600 marks).
B. Sc. Fisheries (Honours) Part-1 Examination shall be held at the end of First Year having 46 credits (1150 marks), covering four theoretical (with class test and performance of attendance), four practicals from Honours courses; and four theoretical (with class test and performance of attendance), four practicals from the related courses.
B. Sc. Fisheries (Honours) Part-2 Examination shall be held at the end of Second Year having 46 credits (1150 marks), covering four theoreticals (with class test and performance of attendance), four practicals from Honours courses; and four theoretical (with class test and performance of attendance), four practicals from the related courses.
B. Sc. Fisheries (Honours) Part-3 Examination shall be held at the end of Third Year having 50 credits (1250 marks), covering five theoreticals (with class test and performance of attendance), five practicals from Honours courses; and four theoreticals (with class test and performance of attendance), three practicals from the related courses. A report of 1 credit (25 marks) should be submitted which is based on the excursion. A course named Aquacultural Practice Experience (APE) shall carry 2 credits (50 marks). Through this course the students will acquaint themselves with fish farmers’ practices and will exchange ideas with them regarding modern technologies in fisheries.
B. Sc. Fisheries (Honours) Part-4 i.e. final Examination shall be held at the end of Fourth Year having 50 credits (1250 marks), covering eight theoreticals (with class test and performance of attendance), eight practicals from Honours courses. A thesis should be submitted in fulfilment of the course JOC having 4 credits (100 marks).
