The University of Rajshahi was established in the year of 1953. Faculty of science includes 13 departments in 1985 and from there a separate faculty named Faculty of Life and Earth Science started its activities from 1986. It may be mentioned here that in this University Deans are elected according to 1973 act i.e. the staff members under the faculty elect their deans for two years by secret ballot.
