The Bangladesh Society for Biochemistry & Molecular Biology (BSBMB) was established in June 1977 as a professional body representing the Biochemists and Molecular Biologists in Bangladesh. The BSBMB conference 2012 expects the participation of at least 200 researchers, educators and students from all over the country to present their latest research findings as well as to discuss matters of common interest related to health and diseases.
The Department of Biochemistry was first established in Dhaka University in 1957 under the dynamic leadership of late Professor Kamaluddin Ahmad. The Department of Biochemistry of Rajshahi University, second oldest in the country, was established in 1976 under the leadership of Professor M. Qaisuddin. Subsequently Biochemistry departments were established in Jahangirnagar and Chittagong Universities. Recently, these departments are renamed as Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. Biochemistry was also introduced in Bangladesh Agricultural University Mymenshingh, Sher-E-Bangla Agricultural University at Dhaka and Patuakhali Science and Technology University as well as in some institutions like Prime Asia University and Tejgaon College, Dhaka. These departments have grown to be the most successful departments in the subcontinent with a wide range of research interest and a commitment to excellent teaching at graduate and post graduate levels. Biochemistry and Molecular Biology deals with the molecular basis of living processes and encompasses disciplines like gene technology, microbiology, food science, enzymatic and metabolic activity, protein technology, natural products, health and environmental science.
BSBMB conference is a showcase of advances in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and its application to Medical and Health Sciences. We hope to offer attractive and exciting scientific sessions that will reflect the most recent advances in the field of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology research. Moreover, the conference will play an important role in networking scientific and research institution. Rajshahi is a lively, friendly and open city with many attractions.
